Anorexia Disorder
Anorexia is an emotional disorder that is focused on food, with a sufferer showing severe fear of gaining weight, to the point of starvation. People suffering from anorexia disorder view their body image distortedly, seeing their body as fat even if they are already reed-thin. Anorexia disorder is about control, of being perfect and the desire to control things such as strict regulation on weight and food and the belief that they will have high self-esteem if they remain thin. The desire to be lean and thin, escalated by images of men and women, celebrities that are being idolized by millions makes anorexia disorder more common in young women in industrialized countries. Anorexia disorder is a life-threatening condition as it can lead to heart failure, electrolyte imbalance, and death by starvation and in some cases suicide.
